Did you select you project Id and installed the extension using the commands shown in tutorial? or is this cloned from github repo?

Can you also run the firebase commands shown in the tutorial?
Firebase package will update the json accordingly.
If it still causes error I recommend creating the firebase extension repo from scratch.
Did you also select your firebase project in your project terminal?
